Department of Homeland Security Taking Steps Towards Accepting Electronic Bids

Contractors may soon kiss paper bids goodbye - at least when bidding on contracts with the Department of Homeland Security.  The Federal Times recently reported on the announcement by Undersecretary for Management Rafael Borras that DHS is working on the creation of web-based portals which would allow contractors to submit their proposals electronically.  Currently most bids must be submitted on paper.  The move to exclusively electronic bidding could save contractors money and time, permitting them to pay more attention to their actual proposal rather than the format it must be submitted in.

DHS has also announced the formation of forums which would allow vendors to discuss future projects with contracting agencies.  These Q & A sessions would then be used to draft the requirements for the RFP.
